Hey all,

Well we finally picked up our Tahoe yesterday. Any modifications you see were done by the dealership. It came out even better than I was expecting.

I've got a laundry list of mods but have a few questions about some of them.

1. I'm looking to remove the rest of the chrome. I'm going to try some electrical tape on the running boards, roof rack, and rear bumper. However what's the best way to black out the grill? I don't want to do plastidip as I don't want it to be matte. Has anyone painted it black? I'd love to see it done.

2. I'm interested in tuning it to improve the throttle response and steering. Overall power isn't a concern...the thing moves just fine. I'm guessing to go with the Diablo Intune2 for ease but is there any way to tune the steering? I know it's a variable thing that makes it feel soft at slow speeds and tighter on the highway. Is there any way to tune it to make it tighter all the time? The thing feels it's best flying along the highway at 85. lol

3. My wife wants to throw black spike lug nuts on it. She's pretty hardcore. lol I only see Sickspeed and Metal Lugs brands. Are either of these of quality? I don't see many reviews on them online.

4. I'm not sure if I really want to install a CAI and deal with all that comes from doing that. Maybe I'll just drop a filter in. Does a filter change even do anything on these? Go with K&N? Again I'm not looking for power but simply to improve throttle response a bit. The thing drives great but my wife is used to driving cars with a much sharper throttle so I want to see what I can do in that category. Do people do ported throttle bodies on this thing?

5. I ordered a V1 with SAAVY and a remote display. I have this setup in my Z06 and love it. Can anyone suggest a good spot to mount the remote display?

6. I'm looking to get some good all weather floor mats. I was thinking weather tech but I couldn't really tell the pros and cons of the mats vs the liners. Anyone have experience with these?

Anything else I should know? Any must do mods?

The thing itself is awesome and we absolutely love it.

Thank you!!!

Best,
Gene :boti:

I'd remove the mud flaps and also lower the backend or raise the front end to level it out.

What did you use to black out the chrome around the windows, electrical tape?

The flaps look better in person than in the photos. Maybe I'll end up taking them off...we'll see. Since I just paid to have the dealer install them I'll leave them for a bit. As far as the leveling it doesn't bother me too much and frankly I like the rake look. Maybe I'll eventually lower it a bit. Doesn't seem quite as easy to do as on the Z06 funny enough. As for the chrome they used black vinyl on that and on the mirror caps and D pillar. Came out pretty good. I've got thick electrical tape on the way for the rest of the chrome. Going to debadge today as well. It's funny how LTZ people want to get rid of chrome and those without LTZ want the chrome. Grass is always greener...

Are those 22s

Thank you. Yes they're the optional accessory 22s. :)

When you get the DiabloSport tuner, crank up the throttle boost %!

curious why you vinyl wrapped the D pillar? It was color matched from factory, correct? I might be the minority on this but that is one thing I like with the chevy over the GMC. I'm considering having our D pillars painted white to match the truck vs the black that comes factory. IMO, having them color matched seems to break up the hearse look, at least with the XL and Burbs.

Haha yeah I took that off as well. I considered just leaving the Z but felt it looked best without it. I took the letters off but now still have the black sticker crap on. The Goo Gone wasn't as effective as I would have liked. I'm going to hit it with a hairdryer and see if I can peel most of the adhesive off that way.

Will do! 20% I've read is a sweet spot. :)

Grass is always greener my friend. To me, the only thing I like more on the GMC over the Tahoe is the non painted D pillar. Personally I like the way it makes the glass seem to wrap around the rear. It also brings the design as a whole inward a bit more making it seem a little more sleek....as sleek as a Tahoe can be. lol

Soo...diablo and Husky on the way. What's up with the air filter? Any need or no? Again looking to improve throttle response a bit...don't care about power..that much at least. It will best hard not to plug the ol' Diablo into the Z06. lol

Best,

after giving it some thought, I tend to agree with you on the standard size. It's the extended where I prefer it color matched (suburban). Either way nice truck!
