I live in NM took a trip to Dallas and bought a new LTZ Tahoe. In the 880 miles I have put on it, it's been great except for there is a piece of plastic on the rear hatch that is catching on the tail light when it opens and sounds terrible. So yesterday was its first full day home. Drove it and all was great then got home, about 2 hours later went out to get in it and leave and at the first look it looked like it was wrecked. Then when it processed in my mind I was like ok it's just the window. Whew. But what happened! It did go from 110 degrees to here where it's been cold and raining. Maybe that has something to do with it? But really it shouldn't, people travel across the country in these all of the time and their glass isn't shattering. To be honest I'm furious, sad, frustrated and confused as heck. This is my rant and just had to share with you guys. Oh and two Chevy dealers won't warranty it (one where I got it and the other in my town) but the third, gmc dealer, will. Which is also owned by the same Chevy dealer lololol gotta love the run around. The way I look at it is, I have this new GM product that has shit in my driveway on its first day home. Would you say the glass is defective? I want to jump to a conclusion but I'm at a loss of who should cover it. The gmc dealer is my dads friend that I'm assuming is pulling strings and has some process to go through. So it's not done yet, or even there yet. With how much glass is on the ground its as if it blew out. If something were to hit it, I think you'd see a lot more glass inside than outside. Could have just been a fluke. As for who covers it, see if your insurance company will. Most have no deductible on glass.

I considered insurance but I've never had an insurance claim before and don't want to start now...

Lol I'm hoping it was just a freak deal, I have no idea what could have caused this but hopefully it doesn't happen again.

Man! that's a tough pill to swallow...

I just had a glass claim on our other vehicle just recently, my insurance company stated that most companies have a glass department for such claims with generally a small deductible (my is 50.00) regardless of the glass. Plus they generally don't see it as a chargeable loss.

It might be in your best interest to check with your insurance company......

GM will warranty it, found out yesterday evening. The window is coming from Canada and should be here Monday. It's funny I had to go through two Chevy dealers and a gmc dealer to get it covered under warranty. Hmm...

Glass is hard to prove defect when it breaks. Can't blame the dealers as they probably don't encounter it much. And try to see it from their angle, someone could have tried to break in, you left it open backing into the garage etc. at least you'll get it replaced free of charge.

I understand what you are saying but this isn't my first time doing business with them. The Chevy dealer I'm a regular with. They would give me loaner vehicles when I was 15, warranty brakes or tires at 30k miles, etc. then with my window they were acting dumb as heck.
