Bought a used 2011 Tahoe LS that had the NAV unit in it but was told that it didn't come from the factory with it, so it's an afterthought install. On boot up it has the Chevy Bow Tie Logo and says BOSE in the lower corner, but there are no markings on the exterior bezel such as DVD, BOSE etc. So my question is where there various versions of NAV systems available ? And if so what were they ?

The build sheet stated that it came with code "UUI" AM/FM Stereo/CD Player, code "USR" USB Port(USB doesn't work either, and UQ3 (Enhanced Audio Speakers)

Any help is greatly appreciated.

That's going to be complicated to try to answer here. I've done the factory NAV transplant in a few vehicles that didn't come with NAV. Since 02/03 GM went to a Class2 data bus and in 06/07 went to a CAN data bus. Everything the in vehicle talks over this data bus and simply works or not based on what the body computer tells it.

I think most of these units will display the part number in one of the menus, the same place where you get the firmware ID. There should be a diagnostic mode or hidden menu that can be accessed. If you can get the part number you can search that to see better what it came from. If you have access to a Tech2 tool that can talk to all the controllers on the bus that will give you the part number as well.

The neat thing about it talking to the body computer is it displays based on the vehicle it is installed in. In my old Trailblazer it came up with the Chevy logo. I removed it when I sold the vehicle and transplanted it into an Escalade where the first time it booted up showed the Cadillac logo. No need to reprogram anything other than the theftlock to the new VIN. Also on the Trailblazer I had, NAV wasn't an option in my year (02) so initially it didn't work. With my Tech2 I told it that it was an 03 and the option for NAV came up. I turned it on and the NAV came to life.

I got totally side tracked on my project priorities, sorry for the delayed reply, had issues with my boat and that took priority. Is this something a dealer is capable of doing ? I don't mind paying to have it done "RIGHT" the first time.
