Some of the other threads I've been reading make me think that I actually have the latest software; newer ones removed the ability to customize brightness and contrast.

How can I find out what version I'm running?

Took a picture of my cluster and nav on dim (all the way to the left) and bright (all the way to the right). I did not find it too dark to drive at dim setting. Not sure if this is what you are seeing, but just wanted to show you for comparison.

@Fosscore, thank you so much for that comparison.

I actually found a good compromise.

I was able to determine that the brightness of the cluster was almost not affected by at least 6 ticks down from full brightness (to the left), but did affect the nav just enough so that it is not blinding at night, so it makes for an acceptable compromise. Brightness on the Denali clusters, for some reason, are not as bright as the Escalades, Tahoes, or Suburbans, for some reason (IMO), so that's why it was a concern to me.

Ok sounds good. I was trying to make sense of how you were seeing it. I went into the stereo/nav menu, but couldn't really find a change in there and then just played with the adjustment button/knob as I did find it too bright at night, especially the nav. So I usually just set it to near the lowest if not all the way down, which I did tonight and found it good for me.
