Makes sense. The console I have is the full one piece version. You could grab one of the panels like on mine from the side. Would give you plenty of panel to work with and its flat already too. I like you...you have good ideas. Lol

bajezere.jpghere is a pic of thr current trimming, it doesnt fit well at all, im thinking I will need to heat it and flatten it out with a heat gun then trim it a bit and plasti weld on some more material to fill the gaps, after that ill use some plasticized body filler to smooth it and then texture it somehow, not sure how yet any ideas?

Here is one of the side, again just going to cut a flat piece of textured body panel, space or out and then attach with Velcro most likely so that it's removable if needed. yhyva7ap.jpg

Did you say that there is a Bose sub available for these consoles?

One last pic it's the original cover for the 4wd, it's not trimmed enough yet but it's getting close, I have the brush gasket thing from the nbs to put around it when doneequbu8yn.jpg

Wow that fits a lot better than mine. This is mine without any trimming at all. The Bose sub fits beneath it with the amp but I think mine is slightly larger than yours and its also one solid piece. Right now the sub doesn't fit because the floor shifter is too high. Yours also looks skinnier than mine is . I'll get better pics later for you. uru9urez.jpg

Must be the difference in the 03 and vs the 99-02 like mine, you are going to have to trim the top of yours to get it to sit any further back

And it looks like you have a 95? It looks like the lower panels may be a bit different cause my 12v sockets are covered by flaps not flip down

Actually it looks like you have an oportunity I dont, you could modify the lower dash instead of the console so that the console sits up and into the lower dash. Im busting out the heat gun when I get home to try and form my contours a bit better

So here is a before and after working with the heatgun. I messed up the back corner a bit but i can live with it as im going to be getting some of that nonslip dash mat for phones and cutting it to fit. Of course ill sand down that spot first and flatten the whole thing first
Before7ehe9u5u.jpg here you can see how it was lipped up. And here is the after, closer to flat

uploadfromtaptalk1393080980051.jpg im also thinking of a small accessory fuse panel, custom 8 inch sub box ala the bose system, and a 5 channel digital amp to run that and the door speakers

not much to update, i've got the front of the console in and flush with the original dash, and i've got a couple of non slip pads trimmed to fit in the top (pics to come)

next i'll be actually mounting the dang thing to the floor, then attaching the accessory fuse block under the cup holder. Anyone know where i can get a large sheet of some sort of non slip material like this minus the ridges?

Good, I'll see if I can get a picture tomorrow and find out where exactly he gets it from.
