Having just installed a 2/3 drop on my 05 Suburban a couple of days ago, I noticed a considerable change in ride comfort. It feels like the rear really stiffened up. The front is dropped with Belltech spindles, the rear with coils and shock relocators. At first, the autoride raised the rear to stock height, but then I made new, shorter, links for the height sensors and it now sits about 1.5" lower than stock. I'd like it to come down an additional 1" or so which would make it level with the front. I would also like to regain some of the stock ride comfort. Do I have any choices here? I've read a few posts about the free travel mod, but I was also under the impression it is not necessary for a drop of 3 or less inches. What about the rubber bump stops? Am I supposed to trim those? If so, how much? Do the shorter shcok sensor rods increase pressure in the autoride shocks causing a stiffer ride? Or am I bottoming out on the bump stops?

You need to trim the factory bump stops if you didn't replace them.

I did not replace the bump stops, they are stock. How much should I cut off?

Is that what is causing the stiff ride in the back? Am I bouncing off the bump stops?

chances are you are sitting on the rear bump stops or withing 1" of hitting them. Trim them down some and let us know if that helped the ride.

take a pic of how much space you have from axle to rear bumpstops

I haven't cut them yet as I've noticed a separate problem...but I did just shimmy under the truck far enough to take a peak at the bump stops. With the truck having sat parked for a couple of hours, the axle was making contact with the stops. After starting it up, the Autoride kicked on and after about 10-15 seconds when it stopped there was a gap of about 3/8 to a 1/2 inch between axle and bumpstops. Obviously I have separate problem and that is that my Autoride is leaking somewhere since it's dropping when I park the truck. I'll need to hunt down that issue before I cut my bump stops cuz when it makes contact with the stops the truck sits just right,, if I cut them then it'll look all stupid and low in the back when I park it.

Anyone have experience with Autoride problems? If both sides of the truck are dropping evenly, is it more likely to be the compressor and/or lines? What are the chances that both air shocks are leaking equally fast?

ok for starters i would put the new shorter bumpstops on that came with the kit. If its still that low with new stops and no travel all you need to do is cut the bumpstop bracket off the frame and get the new bumpstops I sell which attach to the axle and boom done.

on a autoride truck the rear shocks will release air when turned off which mine does also on my escalade all years do that. They bleed off some air but not all.
