Just like it says! I need a new MOTOR or to rebuild mine.....

('96 - 350CID 5.7L)

Anyone have an opinion of any crate motors, as I am leaning that way due to warranty on the motor!

Any info or knowledge would be great !!!!

Or anyone that lives in South FLA (Dade/Broward) that knows a reputable engine shop!

Thanks !!!

572 hell yeah!

My dad replaced the motor in his 99 suburban with a GM crate vortec 350.

Has a warranty and runs great. If you dont want the hassel this is the route i would go.

Your current motor could need heads resurfaced and that's more cost plus finding a good machine shop to do the work.

If your mechanically inclined and want to rebuild your motor, throw a bigger cam in it and have fun.

If not just be done with it and buy a crate motor.

That 572 motor is a beast! I voted for the crate motor route as well. The other route would be cheaper of course if you are doing it yourself. It may cost you as much if not more in the end rebuilding it because of the labor of the shop. Crate seems like the better option in the end. Labor won't be too bad because they just need to drop it in and you come out with a warranty after it's all said and done.

No substitute for displacement!

If you're gonna go crate, check out the option of having a 383 done, or, even better, how 'bout a smallblock 427???

Crate..383. I run one in mine and it is a very strong motor.

And your still running tbi with a 383?? Or did you go carborated?

You can pick up a 6.0 vortec on ebay for not too much.

I've found the newer motors (a 5.3L w/70K on it locally for $500), but isn't it gonna be more work because of wiring and the computer isn't gonna be able communicate with the motor or anything????

Iv'e thought hard about that too!!!
