I have been dealing with this for the past 3 years but i have finally got agravated with it.

The truck cools good then all of a sudden the AC light on the dash cuts off and starts blowing warm air. It seems to shut off faster ridding around town than on the open road. I have changed the fan clutch (which went bad cause a cat crawled between the fan and the radiator to take a nap, got stuck and didnt know it was there for a couple days...long nasty story..)

It takes a while of driving on the open road or cut off for a while before it will come back on. If you press the AC button it just blinks. I have tried researching a bunch and havent seen anybody with problems like this.

ok, I gotta know the story about why you needed a fan clutch! You can't just give out a little tidbit like that and not expect to tell us the rest of the story!

HA well i have a pic of the cat....but im sure NOBODY wants to see it...It was cold out side so i didnt pay any attention to the fan not coming on nor did the truck start over heating...i rode for 2-3 days before it got hot enough for the cat to start stinking...IT WAS BAD! I was really sick with a sinus infection so i couldnt really smell it untill people at work started calling me and telling me something was wrong...magets had started to fill up on him......kinda getting sick thinking about that smell again...I had to take the entire fan assymbly apart just to get the cat out...and on top of that the skin on the tail ripped off when i started pulling him out.....:doublepuke:

I dont know much about AC systems so correct me if im wrong but doesnt the blend door control the airflow from your feet to your face? How would that cause the ac to just randomly cut off?

The blend door blends the hot and cold air, to create the temperature you desire.

You didn't post up the year of your truck but i was thinking it might be something to do with re circulation issue. After google search wow does it come up with a lot of replies. Look at this one it states low voltage may cause it. I noticed you said around town it happens more then on parkway maybe that is your issue.

I guess the other thing can be low on refrigerant.

Its a 2000.

And my voltage is good.

I have been told by some shops to have the entire ac system replace...that just seems a bit much...Something is causing the problem...

could it be a pressure switch? or compressor going bad?
