so i ordered the paintable rear bumper from lmc truck without impact strip. the step pad they sent is not the correct one and they dont carry any other one. does anyone know where to get the correct pad for this damn bumper?! i've been going crazy trying to find something that works. lmc customer service was completely worthless and clueless as far as help. i ordered the step pads from gmpartsdirect for the painted bumper and they also are wrong. here's some pics hopefully someone can help me. i think what i need is the pad for a 99 or 00 z71 but the dealer is no help and says i need a vin to find the right part.

here's the one from lmc truck.......it overhangs all around way too much but at least the holes line up with the bumper

from gmpartsdirect.......its two separate pieces, holes dont line up at all

Damn. That's strange man. I've checked out that bumper on LMC. It's part number : 38-9777 right?

That's the same as 38-9776, only paintable, and in the advertised picture, it is a clear fit. I know you said their customer service is worthless, but I'd try calling them again and tell them that you want the correct bumper and/or step pad... or a full refund because the part was not as advertised.

If all else fails, you could always trim and smooth it out.

yes that is the correct bumper. the pad they send with it is the one designed for the bumpers with impact strips, it comes off the side i believe and matches up to them. well it looks like shit on this bumper. when i called they insisted i had no clue what i was talking about and that it was the correct pad. then they were not interested in letting me send pictures of how it looks. i also forgot to mention that they ship it with a pad already installed. well when you go to paint the bumper, you damage the pad in removing it lol. so there's another $20. i think this weekend i'll take some high quality pics and draft up something to send them. the first time i called i told them i'm not even looking for money back or some kind of break.....i just want the correct pad! $1500 spent there in the last month you'd think i'd get a response other than "sorry you're wrong and it does fit right".

Well, sounds like they are aware of the possibility that they ****** up, but don't want to deal with it. I'd keep calling them and insist they see pics of what you're talking about. Try to pull the picture off their catalogue of the one that looks proper and make a side by side comparison of what you have right now.

From LMC :
"Returns Policy

* We consider all sales final unless a part is either: (1) Defective (2) Other than ordered.
* A return will not be accepted after 180 days (unless under extended manufacturer warranty shown in catalogs). Returns must be made in their original cartons.
* Any part that is returned must be in NEW-SALE condition as determined by our returns department.
* Parts which installation has been completed or attempted are not returnable. It is the customer's responsibility to check parts for correct fit BEFORE installation.
* A part which has been disassembled, drilled, welded, cut, painted or modified in any way cannot be returned.
* Any incomplete kit cannot be returned
* Installation, disassembly or modification done by a third party on behalf of a customer is not an exception to our policy. The purchaser has full responsibility for the condition of the part.
* Refunds are made in the same manner in which you made payment. Credit to your charge card or refund check if you paid by check. Refunds on orders paid by check will be issued after 10 working days from receipt of check. Refunds of less than $1 will not be refunded without customer request."

I'd say yours is other than ordered.

the ****** thing is thats the only step pad they carry. and know i've wasted money on the gmpartsdirect one that is supposed to fit the painted bumper. i think there might be one other option, whatever was standard on the 99, 00 z71 tahoes. i'm not sure how to find out exactly which one i need though because the parts counter at my dealer says there are three different ones depending on options codes in their system
