Do you guys think I could use the high beam bulbs as reverse lights (I have some extra bulbs the I could use to test it out) ? Do yawl think the taillight housing could hold up to the additional heat? I read several treads here where some guys are using HID bulbs for reverse lights.

I don't really want to hang some lights of the rear bumper of my YD and make it look like crap.

9005's aren't going to just fit in your reverse lights...

I have GE Nightawk 3457's in mine which are 500lm compared to 400lm for the stock 3147's (IIRC) They are certainly brighter, but not HID bright of course.

Since your reverse lights are never on for extended periods of time I doubt that you would melt them easily with some higher wattage bulbs.

Why not just get some of these:

HID back up lights are the way to go. They're super bright. I have tinted tails and they're still brighter than the factory ones. Only down side is the delay to get full brightness.

I had a pair of LED bulbs on my Yukon that I picked up at the parts store, and they were a lot brighter then I thought they would be. I liked them

I have the 7440 LED replacement bulbs in my Esky housings. They're the "cob" style with something like 36 individual LED's on each bulb. They are ridiculously bright, and look great, too.
