Need Help ASAP? Mystery part?

Every backyard mechanics nightmare. I have a mystery part!

My wife was on her way home last night and called me and said her driver's side low beam was out. It's a 2010 Yukon that we just bought on Tuesday. Eh, things happen and I know it was working yesterday. No big deal.

When i opened the hood I immediately saw this piece laying loose in the empty battery tray:

What the heck is it?

Looks like a shim. Run those numbers on the internet thingy and see what description comes up.

Interesting. Doesn't look like a battery tray component. Either it's an alignment shim or piece of a tool kit. Some headlight assemblies use a shim similar to that to lock the headlight in place. Looks a lot like the one on my old 08 Envoy. Same shape but they was a lot thinner. If you can't find anything loose that might require it I would just toss it in the tool box. The mystery will solve itself some day.

Was it in a wreck? That's a body shim to line things up.

I don't think it is a body shim. It has a curve when you look at its profile. I'll do some more digging. I have a buddy that worked in a tiee store for 20 years, I'll send a picture and ask him if he knows.'][/URL]

Not all shims are completely flat especially suspension/alignment shims. Also, when multiple shims are needed in door jamb areas and the like, sometimes have a curved tang on them to hold on to as you bolt things together. http://images.oreillyauto.com/parts/img/large/moo/amg_k90350_p04_ang.jpg
