DD audio 5 k amp and 4 audio pipe 15s. What do you guys recommend would be a good battery to replace the 2 back batteries for the amp? Lithium? There are a lot to choose from and brands.

The battery in the photo doesn't even meet the minimum specs to be used in our trucks. When those two batteries were new, they only had an amperage draw rating of 44 amps each. The basic battery for our trucks is 70 amps. In addition, the reserve capacity is but 90 minutes for a new and healthy battery, the minimum spec battery is 110 minutes.

Being that these are for the "hotel" systems and not the motor, you may consider a battery with a 145 minute reserve capacity and an amperage draw rating of between 70 and 80 amps each. You'll have to do the math to decide on what your needs are.

Check these out, the 48HPG/88865275 and 48PGHRC/88865786 as an example of the specs you might decide upon.

if I was going to upgrade more I would go with lithium, but like mentioned above you will need to do the math to figure which battery or batteries will work best for your setup
based on nominal alternator output, desired operational range, available space for battery, they don't have to be "car" batteries but should fall within 12-15v depending what your system can handle. There is one guy on here that uses battery cells from electric cars for his audio setup.

Ok thanks. I’ll do some research. The system came with the truck when i bought it. After 3 years I’m trying to do some upgrading.

Thanks for steering me in the right direction. I’ve been adding up all the rms needs of my system and comparing it to what I currently have. Just to make sure I’m understanding this correctly. The main battery will always be a CCA battery. But the battery I replace in the back for the amp can be just a deep cycle? Or should I just keep the main and secondary battery the same brand.

Thanks again for your patience with me.
