Need help! Moving from NC to NY

Hey everyone

Hoping to get some help here as I have been back and forth with the nys dmv and my lienholder. I just moved from NC to NY and am trying to register my vehicle here but the NYS dmv requires the certificate of title from the lienholder to be certified but apparently that is against my lienholder's policy. I think I misunderstand what the dmv means by certified. Is there anyone here that has any experience with the nys dmv? Between talking to them in person and on the phone for multiple hours, I'm going crazy!

I am originally from NY, so i think i can help you out since my Tahoe is registered in NY. i think there is another way of doing it, which i looked on NYS DMV website. below is the link:

scroll down to where it says "How to register an out of state vehicle" and it looks like it will explain your situation. it looks like all you may need to do is ask your lienholder for a copy of the title certificate and certification of the lienholder(on same piece of paper).

worse case scenario, refer the lien holder to the NYS DMV site and have them look at what the policies are for NY. NY is a strict uptight state when it comes to registrations and whatnot. hope that helps..

Who is your insurance. Many have offices here in ny that for a fee will do the tags for you.
