So I drove my buddy home from work this evening and when we reached his house the passenger front door would not open from either the inside or outside. What do I do now? How do you work on a door when it closed with the door panel on? FML, need help asap. Thanks in advance!

Is there any way you can pop out the handle to reach inside to pull the rod? If not I have no clue you may have to call a locksmith out

Maybe try calling a locksmith. I know when I needed my door unlocked they used a tool on the passenger side that was able to pull on the latch

I actually know a locksmith personally, I will give him a call monday. My local mechanic says its the door lock assembly. He states its locked and its the only thing that controls both inner and outer handles. IDK

If all else fails I suppose you could try unbolting the seat, pull it to the back seat area and then try to remove in interior panel to find out what's going on.

I wound up stopping by my buddy's body shop and he was messing around for a bit and all of a sudden it opened! Thank effen God! So we pulled off the door panel and and the three screws holding the lock acuator. Used a bungee and the seat belt to hold the door closed till I went to my mechanic the following day who had the new unit waiting. Not too bad but I dont want to imagine what would have happened if it didnt open.....

I asked him for the part number for the actuator for the drivers side and he told me its not necessary. While was trying to be proactive he said he has two limo accounts with over 110 Suburbans and Escalades and he's never had to change one before. Only me, FML!

Whatever you do, do not ever pull on that outside door handle too hard, this past winter my door was frozen shut, and on the 2nd yank, i pulled the door handle clean off of the door. lol Not fun..
