I have a 99 4 door tahoe 2wd.. I just replaced the pitman, idler arms, sway bar bushings and end joints, steering pump, steering gearbox... all of that fixed the 6" of play I had in my wheel, but i still have a problem. When I am driving and i go over a rough bump, I notice that the car absorbs the shock crooked. It rocks to the front left then to the back right... It makes my steering wheel turn, and it feels like the back and front of the truck are not connected... any ideas?

I am just chipping away at everything in the front suspension and steering.. I have shocks going on, and inner and outer tie rods, then I am going to recheck...

stabilizer links but those would make a clunking sound if it was bad.

You do all the work yourself? Have it jacked up look over it all.

yeah I do all my own work...

I just found out how to adjust the gearbox, so Im gonna do that tomorrow also...

I found out that the bushings for my sway bar are stripped... they are in the hole but they wont tighten.. they just spin. Im thinking when I hit a bump it is enough to twist the sway bar. the stripped bolts are on the same side as the problem too... and it only does it at around 45mph and up ... we shall see tomorrow..

well i replaced everything in the steering.... i still have the weird suspension rebound, no more wandering steering wheel though...

I am wondering if it is my springs up front... I removed my bumpstops, new shocks, sway bar bushings and links are good...

When i hit a bump the left side tends to bounce alot more than the right side, giving me a boat like feel... It doesnt do it when I hit bumps, only when I hit sections of the road that are uneven or when i go onto or off of an overpass ( where the asphalt meets the cement on a bridge..)

Why would you remove your bumpstops?? They serve a pretty important purpose ...

because my truck is lowered to where they are within an inch of touching , and everytime i hit a bump they rub... so I removed them until i can get some lower profile ones..
