I just copy and pasted below an email I got from the guy who is doing my suspension lift. FYI my Tahoe is a 1997 2 door 4x4. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated it.

Vendors have gotten back to us regarding the exhaust. I've checked into Flowmaster, Edlebrock, Borla, and Gibson. Out of those 4 vendors, Gibson is the only one that has an exhaust for your year. The fact that it's a 2 door and not a 4 door also seems to be an issue. However, the one Gibson offers is a single not a dual like you wanted.

So, Rob wanted me to let you know and find out what you want him to do. He does bolt-on only and doesn't do the bending. The one you have on there now is definitely custom. So, he wanted to know if you wanted to go with a single from Gibson or do you want him to look into a custom dual for you?

Please let me know when you can. I can get prices for you if you choose to go with the single from Gibson.

Have you looked into catbacks? I know that the 2 doors aftermarkets a slimmer market because of the limited production. Also are you having any cat or header work done? You could just have them cut your mufflers. Weld new mufflers in.

Flowmaster's site lists a system for your 2 door. Single outlet only though.

You might have better luck taking it to a place that does exhausts for a living.

So what is the difference between a cat back system and what the guy working on my truck is suggesting ie single or custom duel?

a catback is just a system that runs from the catalytic converters back over the rear axle. it's joined by a y pipe that branches off. A dual is two pipes that leave the manifolds that way and don't ever narrow down to one pipe.

Catbacks are just pre fabbed so that they bolt right up. You really should have a muffler shop build you a custom catback. And then have the tips and stuff installed.
