I couldnt find anything directly covering my problem, which is a slip from 2nd to3rd gear, before it ***** and you feel that youre in gear it revs up another 500rpm. Is this a fluid change thing or what, I have checked it following the steps in the manual for both cold ans warm and it shows its good. Also in color its reddish pink not brown or god forbid black.

Please give me advice on this because the stealership wants $130 and 3-4 hrs just to look at it.

if the fluids are good, it could be a shift solenoid or something electronic. Or it could be something physical like worn clutches. How many miles is on the tranny?

If im easy on the throttle its not that bad. Took it to aamco for a free check, they say worn internals too, 1500 to rebuild.

I just got my truck back from having its trans rebuilt. It only had 90k miles on it too.

Mine would rev too, but it wouldn't catch gears til like 3k+ rpm. 2nd gear was pretty much gone on mine though. Yours sounds similar, but not quite as severe.

Sounds like the check ball behind the 2-4 servo is leaking. The backside of the servo acts as the accumulator for the 2-3 shift and if that check ball is leaking it'll bleed off pressure to the direct clutch (active in 3rd and 4th gears).

Pull off the servo cover and remove both pistons, behind that you'll see the case and the little check ball assembly in the case. The VB will have to come off to remove and replace the check ball capsule if my memory serves me correct. Some builders will remove the check ball capsule and insert a small cup plug to give a firmer and faster 2-3 shift.

Normally this wouldn't be cause for a rebuild unless you drive it much, just don't procrastinate getting it fixed because the direct clutch can't take much slippage before it burns up.

It's not that bad. But it is at the back of my head all the time. Where did you get yours rebuilt?

Sounds like you know these trannys like the back of your hand, I dont think I would want to open anything up myself, what if I screw it up?

Same thing

My 4l60e does the same thing to the T. I have an ultra crisp 1-2 under light acceleration a 2-3 slipage (about 2-500 rpm worth) then right in no problems, under hard acceleration a decent 2-3 with no slip. Also under tow/haul mod it shifts normally, no slipage.
I have done a filter and fluid swap, plus while i was in the pan, I replaced all the in pan servos with new ones. Problem persist. Any suggestions?

And on a side note while droping the exhaust in order to remove the pan, I snaped both exhaust bolts, so for now its straight piped after the cats and O2s, sounds great, no noticable loose in hp or mpg, does have a little deceleration popping/gurgling. Definitly considering a electric exhaust cut out to be mounted there when i get around to fixing the exhaust.

Thanks scott
