I agree not much feedback but I have the wife bought in on it needs a rebuild or 6.0 swap so....... At the end of the day I am really thinking about building something to tow our tt. My truck did great but that was before 9 Inches of lifted and huge sema wheels haha. With that said I'd rather just attack everything now.
So......The title of the thread should be “Help me justify a 6.0 swap.”

I bought mine with 290K on the clock and the dongle has gotten me to 328K so far. Don't see the point in tearing the top end down for the delete with this high a mileage in it. Fingers crossed. I also blame worn VLOM gaskets and solenoid assemblies as part of the lifter failure on the higher mileage engines IMHO.

I get wanting to upgrade, so don't let your wife see this thread. But, you should still do your due diligence in diagnosing the engine, it at least deserves that. Besides, if you sell that 5.3, at least you'll be able to tell the buyer the reason for its ailments.

Have you tested for a leaking pickup tube O-ring yet? If that's the cause for the low pressure, it's a cheap fix, especially for another owner that would have easy access to the bottom end with the engine on a stand. Knowing the cause would make the engine more valuable, and that would be more money towards that 6.0 or 6.2.
