I have a 2002 Yukon at my friends tow yard that is going to be scrapped. It has a 5.3 in it and I would like to get it started to see if the motor is in good shape. I want to use it for a Jeep Wrangler project.
The problem is that the steering column has been removed.
Is there any way to start it up from under the hood?

Thanks

You should be able to get it to roll over but without the factory chipped key it probably wont start. Jump the ignition wires on the wiring harness from the steering column so it lights up as the key is on. After that you can find the feed wire for the starter solenoid or you can jump the starter.

I thought they did not start using transponder keys until 2006. I know my 2004 Silverado does not use one.
