Need Transfer case help!

Ive got a 98 with auto-trac. I'm assuming it's a np246?

I Think the clutch pak is shot, Didnt leak any oil so should i rebuild it or:
Can i use any 246 to replace it?
Say a 2002?

As long as input/output shaft splines and wiring diagrams match you should be be fine. What makes you think the clutch pack is gone?
