2009. Suburban. 122,*** miles. Owned since 96,***. Was under 1/2 tank. Oil changes, plugs, wires (all OEM from dealer installed by me) performed and other suspension stuff.

Recent family trip, at highway speeds I begin to hear a ticking. Not knowing what lifter noise is, I assume that. CEL. As time goes on, I realize it to be more of an exhaust leak type. RPM dependent. Not related to brakes, turning, etc. It has that puttering sound. (I already started to research Kooks long tubes).

CEL on. It blinks a few times. Stabilitrak, traction control warnings also display at this time.

I am thinking exhaust leak near the headers on driver side. Did some snooping around, nothing obvious.

Did an oil change and then a scan.

A lot of codes found then in scan:

P2270
P0300
P0700
P1174
P1175
P162B
P0742

B0081 (Passenger presence)
B3779
B3782
B2555
B1722 (mirror power fold, I have tow mirrors and sometimes in reverse the mirror wants to adjust like with the OEM mirrors. Way to disable?)
B1580
B1590

U0140 (lost comm with body control system)

C0561

It was a helluva trip!

Wow! You need to yell Yahtzee and Bingo with all those codes!

The first thing that comes to mind is an electrical issue when I see this many codes.

Just above the Bank 1 (driver side yes?), Very front spark plug.... There is a sensor.. with two leads. The wires are crispy. What sensor is that?

I think the same too re electric. I definitely hear puttering sputtering exhaust leak sound though.. or so I've convinced myself.

Yes-Bank 1 is Drivers side.

Do you have a pic of the sensor you’re talking about?

Based on your description of the location, I'm thinking the sensor with the crispy wires you're questioning is the coolant temp sensor.

I agree with Wade on faulty electrical circuits causing all of those codes. Anything from loose and/or corroded ground(s) or positives to faulty charge control circuit in the alternator could cause any of the multiple computers to go haywire. An exhaust leak isn't gonna cause all of those codes.

Thank you.

Short, around town trips do not cause issue.

I changed the tilt mirror setting. Thank you for that. I believe some codes relate to that issue of aftermarket tow mirrors with tilt mirror still in the software.

I believe you are right with the crispy wires. I will look closer, take a photo and confirm.

I need to do the grounding wires. I saw the lugs at Tractor Supply. I have a nice pair of powerful crimpers I bought for another project. Should have plenty of cable to from my old BMW project.
