Hi everyone,
I recently had my transmission rebuilt on my 2001 tahoe and the shop suggested replacing the neutral safety switch. I was having some starting issues the week before which I think was due to a loose battery connection but figured i would have them replace it anyway while they were doing the job.
My issue is park and neutral are not highlighted on the gauge cluster when selected. The cluster lights are not out as drive, reverse, 1, 2, and 3 are highlighted when shifted into those gears. Also drive and neutral D and N are visible on the cluster just not highlighted when selected. I know park was highlighted before the repair. I asked the shop about this and they said it was normal which I don't believe.
I do not have any starting issues, the truck starts in park and neutral, and the highlighted gear on the cluster matches what gear I have put the truck in.
So my question is is this an alignment issue or a bad switch? If no harm will be done to the truck I will probably leave it but I wanted to make sure.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul
