It was wit. I'm not sure there even is a 2-door SUV being sold right now. We used to have 2-door Broncos and Blazers back in the day. I recall some 2-door Japanese SUVs in the 80s and early 90s, but those are long gone now. The target market for SUVs and the target market for sporty 2-door vehicles is not a compelling Venn diagram. Heck, even the market for sporty 2-door vehicles has dried up.

I guess it's true; if you have to explain a joke it's not very funny.

Well, that was my point...

How can they be selling if they're not being built?

Shit, I'd buy a two door Tahoe again. Kid is not far from leaving home (and wants little to do with me anyway at this age), so the back seat isn't needed. Yet having a covered cargo area and a tough looking SUV is right up my ally. Loved my old '96 two door.

I wouldn't say its dried up, the market expanded. Its not that people don't want a sporty 2 dr SUV. Its that we have created a new market because of it and overtaken it with UTVs and side by sides. Why would anyone buy a $30-$40K 2 door suv, when for less than that you can get something specialized, and still have enough for a usable pickup or a family friendly SUV, for the rest of the week? Off-roading has evolved from that occasional camping trip, or as requirement to do other things, to being the point..

Back when these were going strong, midsize were considered (and built) cheap because bigger was better. We still needed to come out of the hazy mindset of the 70s and 80s. Automotive technology advanced, and we realized a few inches here and there added 20% on mileage, and made handling and overall driving better (for that 2nd driver in the household) or a family.

Personally, They LOOK great, but there is ONE reason I will not buy one. Have you ever been, or asked a grown adult to get in the back seat of a 2 door?

Obviously not what is pictured as it’s a Frankenstein of models, however, if the Bronco shows promise (ie sales figures), I wouldn’t be surprised to see a limited return of the 2 door.
