Yes the end is open and there's a hole in the inner fender it goes up against.

On my 03, there's an air tube in the fender, feeding cold air to my Volant airbox. Goes from an air scoop bolted below the front bumper to the bottom of the box. With my stock motor, giving it 1/4 pedal sounded like I was romping on it! Sounded exactly how you described it--like flipping the air cleaner.Yes, they do supply a plug for it and I'm not sure if the dyno test was with or without the plug. I figure the more air the better, I know what you mean though because on my old cars my air scoops are above the hood.
Hopefully the cowl induction hood I have planned will eliminate some under hood heat.

It came in the kit I bought. Got it used from the forums.Is that something you made or did it come in the kit or was it stock ?
