Background: purchased new Yukon Denali from Laura GMC in August 2016. Great dealership and sales experience. Parked for a few weeks, then drove from St. Louis to Black Hills, SD, and back to Florida - 4300 miles in total. This truck has every option available.
Comfort
This vehicle is very comfortable to drive. The interior was quiet overall with minimal road noise. Driving across the plains, there were some 20-30 knot crosswinds. It exhibited good roll control and wasn't easily pushed around by the winds. I feel some extra sound deadening could have been applied making it even quieter inside. I'm not fat (5'11", 185 lbs) but the drivers seat seemed a little narrow, but was never uncomfortable. Extra bolstering would have been nice. And wait for it - no buffeting, pressure, or vibrations at all.
Performance
The 6.2 is a very strong engine. Amazingly, I averaged 21 MPG and often saw it cruising at 75 MPG in V4 mode. The extra torque of the engine is much appreciated. The 8-speed auto shifts smoothly, and the exhaust has a nice burble and sounds athletic inside the cabin, without being excessive or adding drone. I was originally considering a new exhaust, but don't feel the need now.
Technology
The Bose stereo has great sound. Much better sounding than the Mercedes E350 I drove last month for a couple weeks. The navigation worked well - the voice recognition always worked, even if there was a lag. The maps are marginal -they could use more detail. They look very dated compared to other in-car Nav maps I've used recently. An auto-zoom feature on the maps (outside of directed navigation) would be helpful. Pressing the screen to zoom the maps is distracting and time consuming. The worst thing is that the nav screen needs to be 1-2" bigger - there is room in the bezel.
Lane-keep assist needs work - I barely used it, as it tends to weave inside a lane, and long term use could lead to a suspicion of DUI. Adaptive cruise control is awesome! It worked well 99% of the time, just a few times it either tracked phantom objects (trailers when passing or on curves). I tested it all the way into a complete stop, and it disengaged around 10 MPH after doing a nice slowdown from 65. it's going to be challenging to go back to driving cars without it. If you're monitoring the system it's a very nice and worthwhile feature.
Overall
This is a very comprehensive vehicle, with a lot of nice features and customization options. It's right at the top end of the pricing scale where I would consider it, but it compares favorably with every other vehicle in it's segment, if not leading in most aspects.
