Hello everyone,

Just recently purchased a CPO 2018 Yukon XL Denali. My family is about to grow to three kids and we travel frequently, so it was time to upgrade.

I've been looking for a Suburban/Yukon for almost a year, finally pulled the trigger. Coming from a CPO 2013 Traverse which has been great for our family up to this point.

Just wanted to share my experience so far. Had 60k when we bought it. Obviously has the 6.2L with the 10-speed. I picked it up while on vacation about 7 hours from home. Dealer offered me $3k less than Carvana did for the Traverse, so decided to spend $200 on a trailer and supplies and towed the Traverse home.

Trailer was 2,210lbs and Traverse is roughly 4,600lbs, so with some extra junk in the Traverse we were basically at 7,000lbs. I had some high expectations with the 6.2L/10-speed combo, and I was impressed how it handled the weight. We hit many grades in the average 3-6% both up and down. The Yukon also had two adults, two children, a dog, and all the luggage to accompany all of us. Yukon sagged upon initial loading, but after a short trip to test connections, the air bags kicked in and helped level the ride out.

Only complaints I had was some fairly decent vibration from the drivetrain (feels like motor mounts) and some exhaust leak type noise from the driver footwell which appears might be related to TSB PIP5570. Going in for an appointment next week to address the issues.

Hope to post nothing but pleasant things in the future! Also an owner of a 2009 G8 GT.

Welcome, the motor mounts have been known to go bad, IIR they are liquid filled, also tranny issue can cause vibration, plus several other reasons if its in the drive train, hopefully your Dealer will figure it out. Good luck and enjoy your new ride.

Nice looking Yukon. Congratulations on the purchase. My 2019 makes the same sound. Started the first time I had it in warm weather. I kind of started to ignore it since then. Keep us posted on the fix

Thanks everyone!

In regards to the driveline vibration, the Carfax showed the engine mounts were replaced previously in its life, 30K miles ago. No vibrations during normal driving, was only noticeable with the load on the back. Mainly noticeable on grades and during certain RPM ranges, so I'll have the dealer take a look and see what they say on Tuesday.

I had originally started looking at Suburbans, but with the way the market is right now, Suburbans that were packaged like we wanted with the color we wanted were pretty similar in price to this one. Only recently had I noticed that 2017 Yukon Denalis seemed to be more common/priced different. Researched and saw the 8 speed was known for issues, so 10 speed it was. It really made towing more comfortable.

One thing I did find slightly annoying was when the 'Grade Braking' feature activated on long descents. There were times where it would kick the RPMs up to 4-5k. Obviously the motor is designed to handle it, but personally I would rather keep the RPMs a little lower and ride the brakes a little more than have the motor turning that much for miles. It didn't feel like I was getting much more out of it stopping-power wise when it would kick up that high.

Looks like a great truck. I have a 2018 with the 6.2L and 10 speed and the 10 speed is a huge upgrade from the 8 speed in my 2015 (that eventually killed itself).

Mine makes the ticking noise too but I usually drive alone and have the music loud enough to not hear it. Doesn't bother me enough to encourage spending any money fixing it.

Welcome to the forum. Change that trans fluid every 25~30k and she will give you lots of trouble free miles.
