I want to get new subs and a new amp for my 02 Tahoe and I've tried reading about how to do it but none of it makes any sense to me. If I get a new amp for new subs do I have to take out the factory amp or can I use both? And how do I wire the new one in?

Just use a line output converter off of a door speaker, I believe you can tap into the door speaker wires under the center console where the stock amp is.

I would recommend making friends with someone familiar with properly installing after market electronics. Theres a right way and a wrong way, and getting hands on training with someone experienced is ten times better than looking at words on a screen.

I don't recommend a LOC unless it's an AudioControl LOC. Most of the rest are cheap junk that have been proven to cause distortion, but sell because it's cheap and "gets the job done".

Do you have the factory HU, or are you using an aftermarket HU? What subs and amp are you looking at getting?

I have a 2000 with an 8" in the cargo area. I found an article explaining how to bypass the factory amp/crossover for the door speakers, and either power the sub/d-pillars with the factory amp or completely disconnect it, if installing an aftermarket amp. This is a little more work, but its plug'n'play with no wire cutting, and can be reversed at any time.
