Actually- the Dealer in Pensacola is a SLP installer. One of my longtime F-body buddies is their 'SLP authorized' service tech. They do offer factory backed 'SLP' option packs without harming the warranty. They do many Camaro's and trucks/SUVs in our area. Sure it isn't a 'factory' option- but it is a 'dealer installed'can be had under a factory warranty.

What is the difference between magna charger and slp?

Magnacharger uses the tvs 1900 and claims plus 120 hp... And an optional tvs2300 for more, but you need a custom tune for the 2300

Slp offers the tvs2300 and claims only plus 117 hp


If they both use the eaton tvs sc, what is the difference between these companies...

I will soon have a 2012 yukon xl denali to play with

Please help me understand

The way it was explained to me by The Yeti is that HP is more a function of boost PSI and that the 2300 can handle the 8psi with a lot less effort than a 1900. Any more than 8 or 9 PSI then apparently you have to start modifying the internals of the engine to handle it, which is very expensive to do.

The analogy, is that it's like using a medium power amp vs a high power amp, at a certain volume one amp is straining at it's top range whilst the other is comfortable at half its range. That's why the bolt on power figures are similar between the two ... the 'volume' is the same but different amount of stress is used to provide it. From what I gather the 1900 is more than enough for these trucks and that other than for baller status (or if one IS going to change the internals of their engine) there's no real need for the 2300 because it won't be used to its full potential.

That's obviously an over simplistic explanation but that's how I understood it.

Serge, you should be good for 10psi. Anything more than that and you're asking for trouble.

The 2300 is a more efficient blower. It operates more efficient than the 1900. But, 8psi is 8psi, wether it's a 1900 or 2300.

Most of us would be just fine with the 1900. I had one and was perfectly satisfied with it. I also had a 2300 but sold that to Leart. Never got the chance to install it tho.

SLP has a different casing on their blowers as well.

Regardless of what tune these machines come with, you'd be far better off getting one and having Blackbear Performance tune it for your specific application.

The 2300 is at 64% efficiency vs 63% on the 1900. 1900 peaks at 75% efficiency not 80%.

The 1900 is more efficient than the 2300. The 2300 is capable of pushing more air though, as both have a terminal rpm of 17,500. You won't need or be able to use the air that the blower is capable of producing at that RPM. Since both are almost identical in terms of compressor efficiency at 10psi/6400rpm, I would go with the 1900 personally. It is more efficient at lower airflow regions (probably due to less rotating mass). Having had both, they both build boost at roughly the same rate, although mathematically, the 2300 should build it slightly quicker.

Thanks....Well the magna charger 1900 looks like a great fit for an everyday driver...

Is the magna charger 1900 loud??? How does it compare to the procharger? I know they make a quieter helical gear option....
