Ugg... today the temp dipped to around 11 degrees outside and I also had a first time electrical issue. Not sure if they are related but here goes...

When I shut the truck off, there is no reserve power and the clock resets to 12:00 and you hear the CD changer going through the cycle.

When you re-start the truck, the auto setting for the HVAC is off and the rear aux AND the dual climate controls are lit up.

I have looked at the manual and can't figure out which fuse to look at to make sure I don't have a bad fuse. I reset the clock and it happened a few times tonight running errands

Then after sitting in my garage, I reset the clock and leave it for a few minutes and no issue.

I go out for a test drive and boom, it does it again... this time when I click on heated windshield washers everything on the dash blinks on and off and while driving. I think I am screwed because my dashlights are flashing all over the place and then I go on like nothing happened.

Any ideas???

Vince

Just found this via an internet search so i pulled the fuse to see if that does anything before i can find it my truck had the update by the PO (I bought it used 2008 with 12K miles). No stickers under the hood which are usually added by the dealer after the recall is fixed.

Here is an excerpt of what I found - what do you think?:

Unfortunately, these features occasionally do the exact opposite as electrical gremlins take control and make them malfunction. Such is the case with a 857,735 vehicles from General Motors built between 2006 and 2008 that are equipped with heated windshield washer fluid. Apparently, the system is liable to short out, causing it to stop working and even smoke, give off an odor, and make other on-board electronic systems go haywire. To remedy the problem, dealers will add a new wiring harness with an in-line fuse, which will short out before the problematic printed electrical circuit does the same.

FYI I had the windsheild washer TSB completed, but I never had your symptoms.

I'd recommend to take it to the dealer to make sure all the TSBs have been completed for your truck since you bought it used. Although from what I have seen the TSBs did not specifically cover your symptoms. You all still under warranty right, so just take it in.

That's the plan, but in case I get the "could not replicate" response, I would like to have some ideas for them.

I am leaving the truck at the dealer for two weeks while I am traveling so hopfully they will find the problem(s).

Thanks,
Vince

only thing comes to mind is in 2006 they were having a situation with the Can-Bus freaking out, something to do with the computers communicating with one another. I had this issue with my TBSS but it cleared itself up after a couple of events.. strange shit, like a hard part issue not a loose wire, because everything else worked... now in my 2005 Grand prix GXP (V8 LS4) i had a pinched wire setting off every light in the car and stopping it from starting, yeah that was fun with 90miles on it 2 days old under the center console (and the plant where that was built received the highest award for build quality lol)

Hopefully I'll have something to report when I get back into town in 2 weeks.

Well I got back from 2 weeks in Florida while my dealer played with the truck. They said they found a chaffed wire in the RR door (circuit 1340) that caused a module to go haywire. The work order said in addtion to fixing the wire, they also had to replace a window switch as it was "shorted".

Well... so far so good.

On a side note, my volt gauge now seems more stable as well.

They said they also replaced my headlight sensor in response to the issue I had with it not leaving "night mode" in the daylight.

I'll keep you posted.
