hi i just bought a 2008 yukon xl slt. this is my first gm I only had ford before. I gotta say it rides so smooth this thing I love it already. I already ordered the weathertech floor liners for the whole truck and the costar for bluetooth. i also ordered a rear driver side inside door handle as the chrome was peeling and very sharp on it. dont think it will be to hard to replace. but the service airbag light is also on i read to check the connectors under the seats first, i was looking and wasnt sure which connector under there is it the one attached to the bottom of the seat? also the body side molding i think they call it on the doors is peeling up in the passenger side i was going to pull them off clean it real good under them and use 3m double sided tape to put back on maybe heat them up with a heat gun a little to make the edge flat so its not curved again. any other ideas? anything else you guys recommend doing to this truck?
thanks
chris

I'll leave it to the gurus to help you out, but I'll be the first to say welcome! I certainly would recommend reattaching the side moldings just as you suggest. I found the biggest pain if they're loose is that after washing, residual water slowly seeps out of them and leaves water spots.

also the rear defroster tab is disconnected on 1 side. im hoping to get going this weekend and get a few of these things fixed and done with. i bought the truck as is with those issues. the molding on the rear pass side door is acutally held with electrical tape on it. its really just a cosmetic thing i think. i dont think they serve any function. my fear is if they peel and water sits between it causing surface rust on the truck.

Sure, the rust is a possibility. Many on here have taken them off completely and give the doors a good buff after getting the glue off. Gives it a smoother look, but it's a matter of preference. They look good both ways.

I would suggest going this route. I personally think it looks much better.

Welcome!

Thanks guys. I ended up just taking them off used the 3m wheel eraser to help with it. Then some adhesive remover. Then finally a few coats of wax. I don't have a buffer so did it by hand, after like 3 coats on each door I called it quits. There's still a small line on the front pass door under the yukon emblem and another on the rear driverside door. Ill give a few more coats of wax again soon.
