Hello.

I am a new owner of a 99 Tahoe LS 2wd 4Door. I upgraded from an 86 Chevy K5.

The K5 was pretty beat up and needed a heart transplant or someone a bit more mechanically inclined than I... So it was either drop a new engine and trani in the K5 and hope nothing else goes out or go shopping. Since my wife and I are expecting our first child in September, I really took some time to think about this one. This past Friday, while the wife was at the Doctors, I took a stroll through my local auto mall. Everything I saw was FUGLY or out of my budget. As I drove to pick up my wife I passed by a Nissan dealership and thought, oh what the hell... This is where I found her.

As I walked up to the Tahoe, I could see that she looked clean. It even looked a bit lowered... at least to me she did/does. My wife said she wanted a Tahoe. This was a Tahoe... just a few years shy of what she wanted but oh well... I walked off thinking that the Boss would never agree to it. But..... here I am now.

The engine is extremely clean. They steamed and power washed it very well and then added the shiny shit to make it look even better. The inside was detailed, but beyond that she was extremely clean. No rips. Only one stain in the rear carpet and over looked NEW. To me, she looked lowered a bit and after test driving it.. she felt smooth. She drove like a Caddy. Soaked up all the bumps but still handled well. The 2 major things that caught my attention were: She started on the first turn with a load roar.. Someone upgraded it to a single FlowMaster with 2.5" piping. The second thing was that she had 98K miles on her. I though to myself... for this year vehicle... this cannot be bad. Only to find out that I heard wrong. not 98K... 58K! After haggling with the Stealership, we walked out paying $8800 for her. I also later found out that the KenWood head unit sounded great, was ipod compat and also Bluetooth enhanced. I have only had her for one week and love driving her. She sounds mean and turns heads. Not to mention she is far more comfortable than my Blazer.

My plans? I have many plans....but no money. With a child on the way, I will have to wait and see what comes of it. I will browse, read, ask questions and learn. I would love to make this into a vehicle I can take across country and enjoy it with my family. Increased handling with a bit of a lower stance would be nice..but fear losing the comfort. Some 20" machined, polished or Billet wheels would be nice but only if they had 45-55 series meat on them. Speaker upgrades are already in the works along with some HIDs and LED upgrades..but other than that... I just want to enjoy her for now.

If I could only get rid of that door chime!

Nice find...This is the 3rd new truck on the forums in a week with <60,000 miles
I thought I got lucky when I found my 99 with 124,000.

unknown at this time.
:welcome: Hold the retainer aside and remove the rectangular box on the convince center located under the left dash against the fire wall. It will have other wire and relays plugged into it. That is the chime warning module.

Nice ride with low mileage. One thing I do know is that these are great trucks and you might never wanna go back to car. Congrats!
