Hammer, mine is a T-rex. Here is a close shot.
It did not line up all the way to the bottom of the hood but I like it as it is.

I don't like how you can see all the way through it to the support brackets and stuff.

That's a down side to all black grilles. You can always see right though them unless they have very fine mesh like some of the Asanti and Strut grilles.
You would be able to see through chrome grilles too, but they are so shiny that the eye can't focus on what is behind. My onld grille is a good example of this.

I like it mostly. I have one sitting in the garage waiting for me to paint match and install it. I think the only issue is the larger holes between the cross pattern allows you to see too much of what's behind and under the hood. I think i'm going to try and find something at the hardware store to put as a backing on the grille to alleviate that issue.

Otherwise its a nice change and like you said, can still revert to stock whenever you like

Don't put anything but some type of mesh behind it when you do install or it could lead to overheating issues due to lack of air flow to the radiator.

I think it is better as is, than flat. The reason is there is nothing else on your Tahoe for a flat black grille to match.
