Wow. I didn't think a power plant was in a boat that size. That's great. Must be a blast to rip around in. Love it

In a boat like that one with about 24-25 feet in overall length, a 350 would be struggling to push it. It would be lucky to break 50mph on gps. Boats take a shit load of power to move.

You are correct. My boat is 4000# dry and a 350 would be struggle to get in the low 40's for speed and would take forever just to get on plane. Most boats in this range have a 6.2 or 7.4L engine.

Mine has a modified 454 in it. It'll run mid 60's all day, it'll almost touch 70 on a cool day with a light load and 1/2 tank of fuel. Boats are awesome!

Awesome boat! Yes, those souped up 454's are sweet and the perfect power plant for the Baja.

Great choice on the truck. Congrats!
That's what I'm looking for and I was thinking of dipping the rims to black.
Any info on your rims and tires?
Please

Welcome to the Forum...Very Nice Denali....you will appreciate the additional power when towing your boat...especially at the ramp !!

I am sprink58 over on Offshoreonly.com. Here's what is getting me out on the water:

She's a 1979 255 Formula Liberator with twin 355 Vortec Roller Cam motors pumping 425 HP each with 450 # of TQ...drives are late '90s Bravo I's. Props are counter rotating 23" Mirage.
The boat weighs about 6000# loaded with gear and fuel...trailer adds around 1500# so I'm towing close to 7500# Trailer is an All American with 4 wheel disc brakes and torsion suspension.

My Yukon with Max Tow Package (3:42 gears and Auto Leveling Suspension) does a great job of towing...especially considering the 600# tongue weight. We always ride level and have no issues cruising 70MPH down the Turnpike or Interstate.

As good as your Tahoe was...you will really notice a BIG difference in how the added power and better gearing handle towing your boat...Congratulations and enjoy !!

Wow! That is a beautiful boat! Certain designs never go out of style. Yours is a little heavier than mine but my LOA is 26' so we're fairly close in size overall. That's great to hear about the towing capabilities of the Yukon. We looked at new Tahoe's (very nice too) but the 6.2L sold me on the Yukon.

Thank you! The black rims are a $3k factory upgrade. They're referred to as 22" 6-Spoke Black Rims and come with Bridgestone Dueler tires. I've never been a fan of Bridgestone and will be switching to Michelin's or Goodyear. I actually like the look of these Bridgestone's and the ride is fairly decent but I've never had good luck with them in the past.

My wife's BMW X5 came with Bridgestone run-flats and they were the worst tires ever! We swapped them in the first 3 months for Goodyear's and now it drives smooth as silk but handles like a sports car.
