When I hit either button, on driver or passenger side, it shuts off immediately. The light barely flickers and it's out, never gets warm. But in the last few days, they have come on a time or two which is strange.

I had a problem quite some time back when the driver side wouldn't work but the passenger would, until I hit the driver side button. That was the common issue of the heating element on the driver side being bad. So I replaced that and all was good, until now.

I've read every thread I can find on heated seats and 99% of them are the element and the other 1% is the expensive module under the seat. I've pulled the ign3 fuse and it looked ok but that's about all I've had time for. I'm hoping it's something easy like a bad ground or bare wire somewhere but does anybody have any insight to them both shutting off immediately?

Thanks

Bump for my cold ass.

I still don't believe it's the element(s) since they both went out at the same time and neither will even think about staying on. They haven't stayed on in the time since my last post either so I'm at a complete loss.

If they both went off at the same time then I agree with you that it's not bad heating elements! More than likely you have a chaffed wire causing a short, but where that's a good question!

No real news but both seats worked about every other time I drove it this weekend. I did get them to kick off when I wiggled around in the driver seat a little so I'm guessing it's a wire on the driver's side, but yeah, where? This could get tricky! Anyone think it could be a wire under the leather leading to the bottom element or just under the seat with the other 300 wires? Or even in the door/switch?

I never knew the joy of heated seats until they quit working....

If you got them to kick off when you were wiggling the seat, than that pretty much rules out the switch and more than likely it's a bad connection under the seat or a pinched wire that is shorting out! Either way, I'd be pulling the seat and checking out whats under there! Wish my heated seat problem was that easy, I'm a bit jealous!! lol

I was having the same issue of neither seat working, or randomly one or the other would work. I pulled the drivers seat out and checked every connection. The main power wire (red wire) to the seat had scorched the inside of the white plastic connector. The pin was totally brown from the heat and only that pin.
After making sure my wife wasn't watching ("her" ride) I cut the wire on both sides of the factory connector and spliced it back together. After getting it all put back together they began working again... for a month. Now the drivers side elements are shot so I'm replacing them, no biggy.

Hope this may work for you or at least give you something to check on. I was pumped when I find the scorch mark!
