So I've been searching through these forums for a week or so, and I haven't seen this particular issue. So here is some background info. 1999 Yukon slt, 200k on motor and 80k on trans. Maintained moderately well (new cap, rotor, wires, coil, plugs, air filter, fuel filter). So truck was running great according to my friend, whom I bought this truck from ($545). Guy was driving along one day, engine had a massive backfire through the intake. Truck immediately shut off, will still start for a split second and shut off again. Upon inspection the upper intake/plenum has shattered into 4 pieces. She sat this way for a week before I bought it. After getting the truck home, I pull the plenum and find significant carbon/gunk build up. Ordered the mfpi kit, new plenum and seals. So this post is kinda a have any of you guys seen that before and a does it seem like the parts I ordered will fix this truck (BTW the fuel pump still works, but system would not hold pressure with the old spider). Some info about me, Ford guy my whole life built and rebuilt several motors and trans, built a few drag motors, anyway two kids, a 98 expedition, and a 99 f150 later I am tired of working on motors under the firewall. Started looking for a full size suv, preferably with a v8 not under the dash, so I wind up with this Yukon.
