welcome to the forum:) just make sure the tranny shifts good its pretty much the weakest point in these trucks but ive seen some goo 200k no probs. my yukon though as an example had the tranny rebuilt at 159k about a week before i bought it.

Welcome to the forum! I agree with 01yukon. If you are looking for something with 125k+ miles I would ensure the transmission is good. I've seen these motors last well into the high 300's (friend almost got to 400k) with good care and maintenance but the tranny from what I've seen goes in the 150-200k miles range.

Welcome aboard bro :)

There are 3 Gens for these Tahoes, and if you are going with the second Generation I would highly suggest trying to find a deal on a 2003 and above. There are a few upgrades within the 03+ models that are attractive - electric fans and a double-din size space for the radio are a couple worth pointing out. The non-electric fans are engine driven fans, they are loud and take a small amount of mpg and hp from the truck.

If you hunt around here on TYF, you'll soon see these guys do just about anything to these trucks as they are highly modifiable for several reasons. There are a ton of aftermarket parts available - and the Tahoe is basically an Escalade and a Denali with some differences in body molding, interior options, trim options and engine options.

Good luck

agree with Boss, 03 and up. If you buy form a dealer, investigate the extended warranty. I paid $1900 for bumper to bumper for mine, 3 years or 36K miles. Needed a tranny rebuild, and it was covered. So basically $1500 paid back.
The motors in these are dime a dozen. IF you ever did have an issue with your motor, you can find low mile 4.8 and 5.3's to replace for $500-$800.

+1 on the 03+ if you can because they fixed the vortec slap in those motors.. mine sounds like it knocks on very cold mornings til it warms up because of piston design in the 99-02 vortec motors. but other than that it runs like a top:) 162k and still goin strong
