Hey guys, newbie Chris here. I just picked up a '97 4d 2WD 5.7 'hoe. After some googling, I landed here - it seems to be the most well-attended and well-informed Tahoe forum around. I've loved these trucks for years and finally came across one that I could $wing. It's got 152k well-maintained miles on it, so I figure she's got alot of good life left in her. She needs a tranny (thus why I could afford it - $750 for the truck), but my brother has a '97 Astro 4.3L RWD van for a donor trans - all of the reading I've done says it's a direct swap with all of the same tranny internals used on the 4.3L V6 vehicles as the 5.7L trucks. Any info/input on what to expect and watch out for during the R&R on the 'hoe is surely appreciated!

congrats on the cheap purchase. Our trucks came with the 4l60e, so if thats the same trans, then it should bolt up.

Be sure to throw up some pics!!

btw welcome to the forum!
