I've installed two complete sets of new LED bulbs in the cabin. The first started blinking so bad, I purchased new ones. Now, all of the new ones are starting to do the same thing. They all started at the same time. It seems to be a voltage problem, but don't know. I thought LEDS use less power? Not adding up..

I just did a complete LED conversion, including running boards etc. I did not have any problems. I would troubleshoot this way:

1. Install the old bulbs back in and see if they flash as well.

2. Try to use the LEds you have in another truck.

3. Also make sure the Leds are connected correctly. They have a +ve and -ve. Unlike usual bulbs you cannot reverse install them.

4. Change only one bulb at a time and test. Keep adding new bulbls and perhaps there is one in there that is causing the issue.

Connector X9 Pin 8 in the BCM controls the dome lighting. The BCM itself is located behind the Driver Knee Board, behind parking brake. Find the electrical manual online, and then you will know which connector it is. It should be a gray wire. Checking voltage/amp on this wire might help you.

Let us know if any of this helped.

Good Luck.

I've heard some of our rigs need the CANBUS LED's. Did you buy those or regular ones? If you bought the regulars then I'd try the CANBUS ones.

^^ This. Once installed, with the key off, turn on your map or dome lights and see if you get full power to the lights. If not, then you most likely will need the CANBUS style. This could be contributing to the flickering or perhaps cheaper LEDs.

This is an older thread, but addresses this issues about being bright when hitting the remote, brighness wheel to the left or when the key is on.

Both my 06 and 13 have interiors LEDs (non-CANBUS) and both will not achieve full brightness without the key on, brightness wheel turned all the way on or by hitting the remote.

I just live with it rather than ordering new LEDs as it is rare I am just sitting in there reading without the key being on. Hope that helps a bit.
