Here's something interesting.

Dealer near me has a Tahoe RST with the 5.3L (see previous post for photos). However it doesn't have the digital instrument cluster. I thought that was standard on the premier trim (the rst is just a dolled up premier). Anyone ever seen that before?
Yeah. HUD is an option on the Premier and if it’s not equipped then that’s the instrument cluster you get. They’re a package. Also, an RST without power running boards seems so lame to me. Defeats the athletics of the vehicle.

I have a 2015 JGC Summit and its been a great vehicle, albeit a bit small and have been looking at either the Tahoe or Denali. Couple of questions to help me decide. How would you compare the 4wd systems of each? I live in the Chicago area and we can get some heavy snow in the winter. Also, is the standard 5.3 engine in the Tahoe peppy enough or should I go with the 6.2 in either the Tahoe or Denali (the 6.2 is standard in the Denali). Lastly, it feels like the interior is nicer in the Denali. Is that an accurate feeling or am I wrong? Your thought would be appreciated.
Even though I own both, I can’t really comment on the 4x4 systems. But yeah the Denali has nicer interior materials. The doors, center console and leather have different materials than a Premier. The seats have more stitching, the steering wheel airbag cover has the chrome ring, real wood trim and real aluminum accents, added acoustic glass and more insulation.

You can get RST appearance package with LT, basically a color matched LT with the wheels and black emblems.

After thinking about your post, I have been looking at GX460's. They are an amazing vehicle. The exterior and interior fit and finish is absolutely outstanding.
They have a bullet-proof V8 which has been a reliable workhorse for a number of years.
Actually, the price, loaded up nicely is in the $60,000 area. Their re-sale value is outstanding as well.

Their infotainment system is perhaps a hair on the dated side.

The entire vehicle is a bit of a throwback to Toyota's / Land Cruisers / Land Rover's days of old with their upright stance, upright interior, and vast views outside from
within the cabin. Everything is very square--which I actually quite like.

Thank you for the post.

I don't need it for a people hauler. I don't have any kids. Occasional clients.

My towing is also occasional and a short distance. Towing a 34' boat with twin 496's (Mercruiser -- a GM Engine).

I am just contemplating the overall appearance of GC verses the Tahoe, the drive ability, cargo space, and the depreciation.

Having purchased and leased BMW's for so many years, I am frankly tired of paying huge depreciation on vehicles that really don't have much status/look/handiness to them.

Even in the Midwest, anyone who can fog up a mirror has a 3 Series / C-Clas / Lexus / Etc.
Just drove our Outback 3.6R Back-to-Back with our Tahoe in fresh snow as it snowed all day at our place at Mt Sunapee.

Unless you need to tow over 6,000 lbs (which few Crossovers will do) don’t know why anyone would buy a Tahoe. And the 6 cylinder GC is a penalty box. So of your choices that leaves the V8 GC. If you put your ear to the hood in the showroom and listen closely, you can hear them depreciating.

GC also has a Turbodiesel option. FIAT owns a big chunk of VM Motori and their diesels are well regarded.

I got rid of my Subaru Legacy for a killer deal on a close out 2017 Silverado Crew Cab. My wife refused to drive it in the snow and I got it high centered on plow berms twice. I carry a shovel and extraction gear in everything in AK so it was an inconvenience at worst but I hated that thing... painfully slow and cramped with my big ass and two kids in there.

Comparing a full size SUV in 4HI and good tires to a Subaru is like comparing pulling a water skier on a jet ski vs. a Wake Setter. The extra weight and power are a huge advantage and the added ground clearance (yes my legacy was not like an outback) is great when it gets deep. My wife won't spend a damn penny on anything and she was thrilled I found the truck, we couldn't unload that Subaru fast enough!

As for the GC vs Tahoe debate... this is a Tahoe/Yukon forum, the fact that you came here kinda gives the answer away IMO. Unless you're gonna get a Trailhawk just buy the damn Tahoe and enjoy it :2cents:

I do not tow anything and for now do not plan to..The bulk of Hoe owners in my neck of the woods do not tow with their Hoe and their are a lot of Hoes in my neck of the woods.

I do have a trailer hitch on my rear..That is there so if someone is texting and not paying attention and their vehicle starts creeping up at the long traffic light they hit that.

Get the Tahoe, way more space between you and the passenger. We came out of a Benz GL550 and it was a bit too narrow between the driver and passenger. Our Denali is perfect, lots more space.

Then why purchase a body-on-frame SUV? The unibody Crossovers are lighter, have more interior volume, easier to get in and out of, etc.

I was shocked when I first drove our 2016 Tahoe. Pickup chassis are a lot better than the used to be, but you are still riding around on a body on top of a frame on top of a beam rear axle.

If you are used to and enjoy the vehicle dynamics of a BMW, you are going to be deeply disappointed by the driving experience.
