Hi,

I am new to this forum and know I’ll have questions, so let me introduce myself.

I am a retired software developer living in Maryland. Over the years I have done my own oil changes, filters, as well as some easy troubleshooting and fixes. Now that I have more free time I am trying to do even more myself.

I bought a new 2024 Suburban LT 3.0l 4WD in late Nov to replace a 2010 Express 3500 passenger van. This serves as my wife’s daily driver and “dog truck”. She trains our retrievers for hunting tests.

We got over 200k on that van as well as the GMC van that preceded it. The latest one had no major failures. I did have to put a transmission in the earlier van around 125K.

I am hoping to get a similar life out of the Suburban, but the more I learn the more I realize that will take quite a bit of maintenance (which I am up for) and some luck.

I am not big on modding, but so far I have installed 1) cosmetic green “Diesel Fuel Only” fuel cap, 2) Start/Stop Eliminator, 3) magnetic oil drain plug, 4) front and rear splash guards, 5) Canvasback cargo liners, and 6) front/rear dash cam that I moved over from the van.

Happy to be here and looking forward to receiving help and hopefully providing some to others!
