new member needs help!!!

Hello everyone

First I want to introduce myself, Im Robert and was a member for almost 2 years of the tahoeforum and Ive been looking for a good forum so we can share experiences mods, etc of our nice trucks! I own a 07 chevy tahoe 4x4 lt loaded with the following mods: volant cai, superchips, jba ceramic headers and corsa touring exhaust.
Now I need help, seriously. My truck is dead!!!
The story goes as follows: I was cruising at around 85mph when the check engine light started blinking and i noticed the oil gauge going crazy, displaying normal, then almost zero oil preassure. I stopped the truck right away and I noticed it was misfiring or something, but it wasnt idle smooth, so i turned it off, then restarted and the following messege displayed: NO ENGINE OIL, TURN OFF THE ENGINE!!! (now the oil preassure gauge reads 0 preassure)so i turned it off, puped up the hood and there is a bit of oil on top op the engine right behind the pulleys. I cheked the oil level and its fine. My superchips reads p0300 multiple cilinder missfire, the dealer didnt find any oil leaks and they are saying they need to replace the engine??? I personally think it might be the oil pump but dont know. I doesnt have warranty anymore since its an 07 (february) Any ideas, help please

Sucks.....I would say it could be the oil pump too since you said there are no oil leaks. Also it could be coming from the oil filter and maybe a leak down there too. Also check some hoses ib the genreal area!
Don't listen to the dealer, they must be one of the "stealerships".......tey another dealer or a independant mechanic!

That SUCKS! But since this would be a powertrain warrenty...you should still have warrenty on it.

Wow. Yeah, never trust the stealership, especially a stealership who's days are possibly numbered. I don't know much about these things, but from a strictly mechanical perspective, computers aside, it really just sounds like your oil pump went. If you do it yourself, you'll save a heap of money, the part itself is pretty cheap too, if it is anything like what a normal oil pump is. I don't know, maybe GM started making them out of diamond, but if not, it should only be a $50 part. I think it could also be a faulty oil pressure sensor, but that's getting into the realm of computers, again.

It is exceptionally messy, but the cheap way you'd test your oil pump is to fire your engine up with the oil filter off. You'll blow oil everywhere, but you'll know if your pump is good or not. If your computer isn't sensing oil pressure, it won't let your engine start.

Hate to be a downer here, but my experience with race engines suggests that if it was a loss of oil pressure due to a pump failure you are already too late - the bearings are gone and rods, crank, etc. may be toast too. Now, this is a much lower stress situation, so the damage may be less severe. The first thing you do is drain the oil and examine what comes out. If there are little shreds of metal it's time for a total teardown. You should probably also cut open the oil filter and see if there is any metal in there that shouldn't be. Good luck, and pursue the warranty approach!

You should be covered under the 5/100k powertrain warranty.

First, I hope your warranty covers everything.
Second, it could just be a pressure sending unit.
You said it sounded like it was misfiring, are your sure that was the sound or is it possible it was rod knock?
Did the dealer say WHY it needed a new engine? What was his clue?
Last thought to ponder,,, if it was an oil pump, and if the engine is toast,,, starting it one more time to verify it won't hurt anything any more than it is now.
