hello i just brought a 95 chevy c1500. great truck but it needs a transmission. slips bad in 3rd and 4th gear. i sourced a trans for $520 and someo e is going to install it for $500.

but i do have a few questions:

1. what are the front and rear speaker sizes and do i need brackets?

2. how hard is a drivers side door lock actuator to install? add of them work but that one.

3. how much is it to rebuild a transmission? i'm thinking about getting it rebuilt but i don't know if i should just put a used one in or get it rebuilt.

4. can i put a double din radio in? i brought this http://www.amazon.com/Metra-Electronics-95-2001-Installation-Vehicles/dp/B003D3NEEUbut i'm heading it can't be done and i should just get a single din.

5. has anyone ever turbo or supercharged the motors?

6. whts the towing rate of the truck? im going to a event in november and i'm thinking about renting a mobile home trailer and was wondering if it could pull it?

first you have a burb or tahoe? because if burb then you may have more then one drivetrain choice even if 1/3 ton i believe. just want to clarify. exactly what engine size and tranny type you have? 5.7l, 7.4l, 4l60e, 4l80e? makes a difference when talking drivetrain details.

speaker sizes in front and rear door are about 6.5 to 6.75 with no brackets needed.

Door lock actuators have to have the door panels removed and typically it's bracket might me riveted to the internal structure. very easy to change tho. if riveted you just drill it out and the bracket comes out then the actuator unscrews from the bracket.

double din is done with something like this. http://www.thedetailss.com/95-99_CK_Double_Din.html then you add your stuff.

the 5.7 and 7.4l engine have both had super charger kits available and some have turboed thru experimentation. you will find them used most likely now. the whipple s-charger booted the 5.7l by 50% on torque and horsepower on the vortec introduced in 1996. your tbi should see the same increase.

depends on vehicle but 6500 lbs of towing is typical.

It's a burb. 5.7 4l60 tranny. It needs a transmission because it's slipping in 3rd and 4th gear.

I got a few quotes. 1699 for a rebuild from a shop. I put down 800 and make payments.

And I found a used transmission from a yard for 525 but I have to pay 500 to get it installed.
