Hello all.. I am new to the forums. Just bought a new 2010 Tahoe LTZ.. Beautiful truck.. Anyway.. It has 20" polished wheels on it and the stock street tires BF Goodrich P275/55R20 something or others. So I also own a 99 Yukon that is down for the count, and i'm going to sell it but it has fairly new set of Open Country A/T's and Les Schwab rims on it. They are 17"..

Long Story short I am thinking about putting the 17's on my new Tahoe for the winter time. I don't care much about the rims (getting dirty or banged up), and the tires are good all weather. And I will put the stock new tires and rims in the shop for the winter.

So my question is do i need to do anything special or buy anything special for the Tahoe to do this (put 17's on it). What about the Tire pressure thingies.. Will that go all crazy or do i just turn it off..

Sorry about the noob question, i'm not much of a do it yourself type guy, especially with cars..

Thanks
Mike

You'll need the TPMS sensors for the 17s. You can usually get a set of them on eBay for less than $100. The TPMS system cannot be disabled. Well, it can, but not by you.

17" wheels will fit on the NNBS Tahoes.

Thank you for the quick reply. What is "NNBS"

Will I need to take it into the dealership to have the TPMS adjusted for the different tires?..

Sounds stoopid, but do those gauges go inside the tires??

Thanks
Mike

You can set TPMS yourself from your DIC

FCC ID : MRXGM07 AMSS
IC : 2546A-GM07AMSS
315 MHz
PN# 15922396

And to be clear I DO absolutly need to run with these in my snow tires. The Tahoe will freak out if it doesn't sense the TPMS's???

You will have to dismount the tires from the wheels to install the TPMS sensors. When you buy them, they have a special valve stem and a small plastic sensor that bolts onto the valve stem on the inside of the wheel. Just have the tire shop reset/re-learn the sensors when you have them mounted and put on the vehicle. They should do this without you asking, but just verify and tell/ask them up front.

You need a set of four of P/N 25920615...this number/product replaced the P/N 15922396 that you posted.

Ok great.. Thanks again for the info. I found the proper ones for $99 no shipping.. Last question before I pull the trigger on this project. I was incorrect on the the used tires i was going to put on the new Tahoe..

Are these ok, do you see any potential issues with these tires

17" wheels are the smallest you can go on the NNBS Tahoes. 16" wheels will not clear the brake calipers.
