I am about to buy a new set of tires for my wife's 2008 Tahoe BUT she will not make a decision until she can she them on her Tahoe.

It's betweeen another set of the stock Bridgestone Duellers A/T, Cooper Discovery AT/3, BFGoodrich Rugged Terrrain, or Goodyear Duratracs.

Anybody run any of these and if so do you have pictures.:doh2:

You need to describe what kind of driving she does including where does she live. You are listing all terrains with highway with all out off road mud tires! IMO you want a good all season or all terrain. I bought my truck and it has Bridgestone AT's and so far no complaints. My next set of tires will probably be the Yok Parada's, check them out. They rate well and are inexpensive....

I had Duratracs on my previous TJ. They are smooth on pavement, not loud, and performed well off the road.

If you want an aggressive tire that has good road manors the Goodyear Duratrac's are hard to beat. I have had 2 sets of these in the past and they are quieter than most AT tires i have ran. Currently they are on my Toyota pickup with 4 of our tahoe factory spares. As for wear i don't have any experiance with something as large as our trucks are but on a blazer I had 25K on them with minimal signs of wear when I sold it.

I have never ran the BFG Rugged Terrain but my dad had a set that came factory on a Dodge 2500 and he got 90K out of them all highway and hailing a large trailer thats all he runs anymore after that kind of life and abuse.

If your interested in the copper tires and want to save some money cooper has and off brand called mastercraft. They have a courser AT i think its called that is very close to the AT/3 and is alot cheaper from a copper retailer. The sizes are limited but google mastercrafttires and you should find them.

Maybe you have had good luck with your duellers but I had a set a few years ago on a new silverado that i had to replace at less than 30K. I was not happy with them at all and will probubly never go bridgestone for that reason.

IMO Duratracs are not a good everday tire. They are made for offroad and have a limited footprint on pavement. God forbid you need to do an emergency manuever on the highway in the rain! You are in deep shit! JMHO

They are not really made for offroad, they are an aggresive all terrain that even meet industry severe snow service standards.

I have to disagree. Have you had a set of these that you are basing this on? They are not like a typical mud tire. They have a ton of sipping that makes them very good on ice, snow and water. Sipping adds friction especially when the tire heats up. friction = traction. I have had several sets of BFG AT's and i think these outperform the BFG's in terms of wet/severe weather. These tires were designed with the road in mind. Goodyear spent alot of time getting these to perform the way they do and to be as quiet as they are on the highway. I think these are an excellent choice for someone who wants decent road manners with the ability to get go off road and come back. With most mud terrain tires you are 100% correct. I think the duratrac's are in a class of their own. JMO
