They only have auto damping in the front, no air. It's an electronic damping system that needs bypass resistors if auto damping shocks aren't used. Edit: that's if you keep your autoride system working in the rear with air shocks. Otherwise you can pull the fuses and disable the entire system.

Ah, thanks for clarifying.

Me for one, I couldn't live without air shocks, the ride it's so nice and make my truck feel as if I'm skating in ice[emoji7]

My ride is pretty comfortable now. The wife likes it. I wouldnt mind if it was a bit stiffer actually. I should've spent the extra money on the bilsteins.

Replaced rear shocks, and front end links. Night and day difference already. Front shocks and sway bar bushings incoming.

Im thinking this could be pitman/ilder related. They look original, seem to have a bit of play. Replacing those.

Got a better tranny cooler installed and noticed definite improvement in temps. Considering bypassing the radiator since I live in CA.

Drove the 'Nali all weekend. I've decided that I still hate the ride. Must be the cheapo shocks I went with. Better than blown air bags, but rocks back and forth and porpoises sometimes. Need to go with some bilsteins...damnit. Getting pitman/idler arms replaced and tie rod ends done soonish hopefully that helps a bit.

Wonder if the soft rear springs (originally air ride equipped) have anything to do with it?

I'm pretty sure that if you don't have air shocks in the rear, you need different springs. I know that the Arnott kit that uses regular rear shocks comes with different springs. You should talk to NORCAL SS here on the forum; he is an expert on our suspensions.

No you don't. I have busted rear bags and hook up a car hauler all the time and it tows great and doesn't squat. It's fine.

It certainly sits more level than these vehicles typically do with working rear air.

Yeah but he replaced his shocks with aftermarket ones that are designed for different springs, in trucks that didn't come with autoride. Mine had blown airbags too when I bought it and it was fine too. But it still had the stock shocks blown airbags and all. The shocks still work without the airbags working. I believe the shocks that are designed for the trucks without autoride are a whole different animal, designed for stiffer springs. Otherwise, why would aftermarket mfr's include different springs when converting to non-autoride shocks?

Yeah I am putting in new springs. These ones are definitely way too soft.

any noise from the front diff? i had leaks in my oil pan and oil cooler gasket at 190kmiles.

noise in my front diff was carrier bearing.

water pump gasket was leaking.

the po had the coolant/trans fluid bomb go off so he re-built the trans.

also for him the bose amp went under the console he fixed it.

its been an amazing family mover and i can say we are planning on keeping this one forever. it will go to the cabin when we are done with it in the city.

the current project on it is the parking brake is non existent. after that i will deal with some small rust spots from rock chips by grinding them out then treating with naval jelly, por15, then white, then clear. with a paintbrush.

post pics!
