Picked up an 04 Z71 yesterday. already a fan. rides , steers and accelerates very nicely. very minimal rattles or anything on harsh bumps. ive got a couple questions, and yes i searched threads for various answers before but alot of the answers give a huge swing in opinion.
so if you feel like chiming in, its appreciated.
- remote start. with winter incoming id like to put one on. id like something on the simple side. i see viper has like 40 models. whats a basic one you like?
- my seats arent horrible, but has a crude repair right at the edge by the drivers door. does the seat bottom remove? or do i need an entire seat?
- paint on the running boards is flaking at the front. looks like rock chips.
im thinking dip wont hold up. im thinking prep and gloss rustolium?
-i know this is talked to death in the audio forum, but you guys have a ton of tech knowledge above my pay grade. im good with the stock hu. but i want bluetooth for my phone. is there a setup that will swap in and maintain steering wheel controls for the hu? or am i best off with just a bluetooth system that adds on?
- last question for now. the light switch. when i go to put the switch in off instead of auto. it doesnt seem to stay there. is this a bad switch? or is that what keeps daytime running lights on?

thanks

this is the only thing i feel qualified to speak on. when you rotate the switch counter clockwise, it naturally springs back to where it was. the action of rotating it disables the DRLs, and the auto-on feature when it gets dark. totally normal.

Also, welcome to the forum!

For a bluetooth ad on, there's the bluefusion bf2k which plugs inline with your xm receiver, and it will give you streaming audio and hands free phone calls. Also will control some options on your phones music playback.

I am interested in these blue tooth system. I like the idea of integrating into the sound system for phone calls and listening to music off our ipods/phones.

Are there other devices besides the bluefusion bfcl2k? big_b_in_PA, i assume you have it installed? do you like it?

I had the bluefusion, it's was great to use, I only stopped using it because I upgraded my headunit. There are a couple others too, I think I simple, PAC audio are a couple.
