I learned quickly with kids that corrugated rubber mats and vinyl seat covers under the car seats can hold an entire spilled thirsty two ounce’r, an exploded diaper or 4 cups of baby vomit.

We were on our way to Hawaii via LAX SoCal and my 18mo old gorked out vomit all over the 2nd row when pulling out of the driveway.

Mom plop’d her in the tub and changed her. I pulled the cover on the passenger seat, baby chair and floor mat. Washed em all off with a hose nozzle in the front flower bed and threw em in the backyard pool.

Added the standby car seat, seat mat and de-funked floor mat back in the truck. We escaped smelling like a bartenders trash can for the next 12 hours on the flight.

Nice thing was the flowers where the barf washed out bloomed wonderfully when we got back and the chlorine in the pool completely sanitized the car seat and seat cover. Yea, use good mats and have seat covers available.
