I bought a used key fob, and programmed pressing the lock and unlock buttons - and they work now, slowly, but work. The problem is, and most importantly to me is, the rear window button doesn't do anything.
Do I need to hold this button down as well during the programming cycle?

I need this to work because I need to be pulling up on my rear window while the release is being pushed, and I just can't reach the button on the dash and the rear window at the same time. The fob, when working, make it possible.

Did the rear hatch release when the door locks responded when programming?

Read and let me know the results:

1. Ground pin G of the Data Link Connector (DLC).

o Receiver will respond by locking and unlocking doors within 2 seconds.

2. Press any button of the first transmitter to be programmed.
3. The control module will respond by locking/unlocking doors and activating rear window release.
4. Press any button of the second transmitter to be programmed (if used).
5. The control module will respond by locking/unlocking doors and activating the rear window release.
6. Remove the ground applied to the reprogramming connector.
7. Transmitter operation is verified by locking and unlocking the doors and activating the rear window release.

I cannot tell if the rear hatch releases - I'm busy holding the jumper wire - and the window will not open unless someone is lifting on it when the solenoid for the rear window actuates.
Otherwise I did follow these instructions - jumper wire from terminals #4 and #8, the vehicle respons with the door looks actuating, then hold both the lock and the unlock buttons on the fob.
The door locks work, but not the rear hatch.

Grab a nearby body if possible or find a better or thicker jumper wire to stay in better( And to achieve Maximum Shortness:)). But when the window latch releases no one should have to be lifting it. Do you have the on-dash switch option to try and release the latch?

I have the on-dash switch - something is sticky with my rear window - I can here the solenoid working when I press the button on the dash, but the window does not "pop" open...a person needs to be lifting on it at the same time the button is being pushed. This wasn't a problem when I had the original key fob - it worked, but got destroyed. This replacement fob doesn't make the solenoid actuate at all.
Is there a more thorough method to reprogram the fob?

and only using one remote button reprogram:

1. Ground pin G of the Data Link Connector (DLC).

o Receiver will respond by locking and unlocking doors within 2 seconds.

maybe-corrossion can effect the microswitches-they are only about $50 bucks and a dealer should always stock them and shoul have the tool tool test signaling. But just in case you have some tech data to use.
