Recently picked up a 99LT, had a 96 LT a few years ago so I'm pretty familiar with the truck in general.

Anyways, it seems like when I take off from a light there is a slight shudder/slipping/vibration/tap right when I hit the gas pedal, almost like there is some play somewhere in the drivetrain. I occasionally get it as well when coming to a stop, almost like the tranny is downshifting but its right as I am coming to a complete stop kind of like 3 light taps when I am almost to 0.

The tranny shifts smooth, no clunks or hard shifting so I'm just curious if its something I should worry about.

The previous owner took really good care of the truck, esp with the mechanicals so I'm wondering if just a drivetrain fluid flush would be advised and possibly help with the problem, or if it's normal.

I've heard a shift kit (just the electronic one) would most likely take care of the problem so I turn to the experts here for advice!

Thanks,
John

are you talking about a hard acceleration? Could be the G80 option, this was the GM limited slip differential.

it does kinda sound like a band problem or accumulator in the transmission.
im having the same problem with mine, it shudders shifting into 2nd though and sometimes down shifting.
i have tried the shift kit way (i did the b&m shift kit which is internal with valvebody removal, including turning up the pressure solonid a bit)
mine is to warn to of totally fixed it, but it made an 80% improvement and feels way stronger. I have done this in another truck ive owned that was severly slipping and it fixed it up 100%, allowed me to drive through the mountains with a trailer for over 3 years till i sold it.
might be worth a look into for you.

Nope, just regular acceleration, I dont think it has the LSD though since the other day I did a 1-wheel peel in the rain :(

No problems once I am moving, its only on that very initial accel. and not between shifts at all.

I just recently bought a 99 LT as well, mine kinda shudders/or hesitates while i am accelerating and also when i stay at a steady speed. the guy i bought it from said the MAF will trip the SES light and he takes and cleans it with the MAF cleaner and says it would last for about 2-3 months before the SES light comes back on. could this problem be causing mine to hesitate like this or is there something else i should look for? the truck has 134,000 miles on it and he had the engine replaced july23rd with a jasper engine out of another chevy that had about 25,000 miles on it. also the trans shifts fine and drives fine, just hesitates while i am accelerating and going at a steady speed.

-ive never tried the electronic one, ill have to read into it to see what it does.
i run the kit that you gotta drop the valve body and drill out plate and install spacers etc., ive done lots of them and have always liked them.
when i build my next trans, ill do a trans go kit though.
the b&m kit i just bought was 40 bucks new, and took about an hour and a half to do. id recommend to anyone, even with no problems, they just make it feel like a truck should.
- jayman8200, yours is sounding like an engine misfire, check ignition (plugs/cap/rotor), start there and see if you notice a change.
