hello everyone just purchased a 2007 Tahoe lt with a power lift gate. We got our first snow fall and I tried to open the tailgate but it seems as if the extra weight stripped out the gears. If I give it help it will open. It sounds like there are stripped gears. I open the side panel were the motor is and everything seems to look ok.

It could be the shocks going bad. The shocks have to be good in order to help get the lift gate up.

At what temperature were you trying this? I live in Wisconsin and when it gets below zero degrees my power lift gate doesn't function. I have to manually raise and lower it, but when it warms back up, it starts working again. Just one of things I deal with in the winter.
